Abstract
Objectives: This study aimed to examine the direction in which healthy cities should move as the city's response and role in emerging infectious diseases such as the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) becomes essential.

Methods: Through international databases, such as Google Scholar and Pubmed, we found 189 studies corresponding to the search term ¡°COVID-19 urban planning OR COVID-19 city planning OR change of pandemic cities.¡± Among them, 12 studies were selected, except for those that were; ¡°not directly related to the urban environment,¡± ¡°not referring to changes in the city,¡± and ¡°medical technology and environmentalfocused research.¡±

Results: As a result of reviewing studies on cities published since COVID-19 became a pandemic, many researchers have mentioned much about population density, the socially vulnerable class, and the medical system and not the structure of cities. A dense population is an environment that quickly spreads infectious diseases. The poor environment of the socially vulnerable class is a catalyst for the spread of infectious diseases and causes great anxiety in social sustainability. Therefore, it is necessary to supplement the areas that lag in the urban planning rankings by including them in healthy cities. Additionally, it is expected that the reorganization of the medical system to consider the health of urban residents will be an essential element in the direction of a healthy city.

Conclusion: Creating a healthy community should not be in a rhetorical sense but should create a ¡°healthy¡± community system. Therefore, a city that is environmentally sustainable, socially fair, and supported by a medical system provides the direction of a healthy city moving forward.
